  • 2010 The other – no other ... Alone
Each lover has a theory of his own
About the difference between the ache
Of being with his love, and being alone:
Why what, when dreaming, is dear flesh and bone
That really stirs the senses, when awake,
Appears a simulacrum of his own.
    Narcissus disbelieves in the unknown;
He cannot join his image in the lake
So long as he assumes he is alone. /
    W.H.Auden

Could it be that we are only able to experience the sensuous quality of contact with the other in our dreams? Could it be that there is a loss of reality in the real world? Could it be that we are at peace with ourselves only if we never accept that we are doomed to be alone? Could it be that our imaginations of the other intensify our sense of loneliness?
Could it be that we dance as we run towards the other? Could it be that the dance-as-we-run movement towards the other is no different from the dance-as-we-run movement towards the self? Does the destination make a difference in the permanent theatre of desire? These are but a few of the questions that the failed yet fertile cross-gender encounters in this video suggest.

  • 2010 Surplus Enjoyment Surplus Enjoyment, (MOKA Taipei, Taiwan) combines six recent projects. What brings them together is the exploration of that excess of desire, which, according to French psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan, determines our relationship with and alienation from the Other. lol

  • 2005 Phases of Accumulation ... Video installation / Phases of Accumulation and Extraction in a Limited Space explores the cyclical relationships between space, matter and the body. Starting from these primary entities, the installation not only draws the glance and attention of passers by and the inhabitants of the city, it leads them to scrutinize the spaces hidden behind the windows of buildings lol

  • 2005 Play for Two Hands ... two channel video installation
The installation is aimed at the casual viewer, in the throng of passers-by, on a street. The subject of the «Play for Two Hands and Black» is the relationships between space, time, matter and body.
The viewer is attracted by the movement of two hands - a man's and a woman's. Both hands are within the shots on a big window. The sheer size of the hands transforms the size of the building, which becomes part of the work. The black background and the specific lighting personalize the hands, morphing them into two portraits, two symbols of a male and female beginning. Upon appearing, each hand is within its own box, delineated by the frame of the window. The hands touch, gradually their movements become aggressive, and the first black spot appears on one of them. They fight, love, hate each other. They gradually become darker as they are covered with the sticky, black substance until they almost disappear into the black background. Realizing their imminent demise, the hands try to clean each other off until they become visible once again, separate, personalized. The circle begins anew, instilling the feeling of an endless cycle of love and hate, of depersonalization and re-personalization.

  • 2003 Au-delà du visible The intended audience of the video installation "Au-dela du visible" are the pedestrians
The video installation is composed of scenes without audio, situated in different contexts - huge visages (4x5m), that are attempting to communicate with the viewers or passers-by, talking to them, calling to them and gesticulating. Despite their efforts, the visages remain isolated, misunderstood behind the grating of the window.
The theme of the project is the relation mass-individual, isolation, and the loss of the individual’s personality.

  • 2002 - 2010 I AM THE BEST Portraits of people of different ages, different social strata and different countries declare, "I am The Best", each one in their own way, more or less convinced. Is this sentence, coming from everywhere, an obsession, an amalgam of voices, a symbol of our aggression, of our vanity, or just a way to survive? Could this sentence, absurd at first sight, be read in a different way? Probably everyone is the Best, in their small circle. Could the « ordinary » person be the Best, or should we say that thanks to ordinary people stars become stars? These are some of the questions that the authors suggest in this video installation, which mimics the genres of the documentary and the sociological survey. lol
